THE RECIPE CORNER: Barbecued Char Siu Chicken or Pork

Summer time means potlucks, barbecues, and fun in the sun. Here’s a great grilled barbecued chicken recipe that I got from my sister-in-law. And it’s so easy! Here on the Islands we get the entire family together and pay respects to our surroundings and love we have for Hawaii and its family. Please come out and celebrate life with us!

BBQ

What you need:
- 1 pkg. NOH Chinese Barbecue Seasoning Mix
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 1/2 lbs. pork (pork butt, ribs, chicken, duck, turkey, etc.- I use boneless chicken thighs)
- Salt (although the mix has salt, I usually add a little bit more depends on your taste.)

Chicken

Combine contents of package with 1/2 cup water.
Mix thoroughly.
Cut 1 1/2 lbs. of chicken or pork into 2 inch by 2 inch by 4 inch pieces.
Marinate in sauce for 2 to 4 hours or overnight for best results.
Cook on the grill.

Baste occasionally with marinade.

OPTIONAL: Dry mix can be rubbed directly onto the meat without adding water.

Best Oahu Beaches: On and Off the Beaten Path

Oahu has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, even compared to the other Hawaiian islands. This list of beaches on Oahu is composed of the most popular and the best hidden beaches. Personally, I like sitting on a beach with no one around a half mile in either direction. Feeling the clean ocean breeze, smelling the sea salts, and swimming with the Honu (turtles) are my favorite things to do on Oahu.

Most Popular Thing to do on Maui

The road to Hana is perhaps one of the most popular things to do in Maui. This beautiful 52 mile trip to the eastern side of Maui is filled with lush tropical forests and scenic coastlines. We leave the city and as we travel east we discover that little has changed in the town of Hana in the last 20 years. Hana is said to be Maui’s last “Truly Hawaiian Place”. The serene beauty is unspoiled by the major developments on the rest of the island.

Polynesian Adventure Tours ‘Safe Driving’ Award

Aloha,

We are happy to announce the return of our Safe Driver Awards. We will catch up where we left off, which was around last May. So many of you who qualify, will be receiving more than one award. In the past, we gave out the awards based on anniversary dates, but this year, the award presentation will be done at the company Christmas Party, and some of you may receive two awards. It was felt that such an achievement should be awarded at a company function so that those qualified would be recognized by the entire company.
