“Hunger in Hawaii”

Aloha,

In December, 2012 we had a very successful Holiday Food Drive bringing in just over 1,000 pounds of donations state-wide.  Thank you to all who were able to help and support our communities and families in need.   But it’s not just during the holiday season that Hawaii families need our help.  The summer months are approaching and for many families that are struggling this year, this means children are home for summer break, therefore requiring additional assistance and resources at home.

In an effort to continue to make a difference within our community, we are collecting food items for the Hawaii Food Bank (and its neighbor agencies) this summer to help feed Hawaii’s hungry. According to “Hunger in Hawaii 2010”, the Hawaii Food Bank network feeds over 183,500 individuals statewide – or over 14 percent of Hawaii’s population – including 55,000 children and 11,000 seniors.

During the month of May, we are encouraging all employees to donate non-perishable food items at their designated station sites. Our company’s goal is currently set at 1,500 lbs.

Mahalo,
